Poem: Sleepless

In the early hours of the morning
I set at the edge of the bed
In anticipation of the first light break
To come through the windows
And give me relief of the stillness
That invades my sleepless nights
I cannot breathe
I cannot turn more than three times
I cannot open my eyes
But I cannot keep them shut
I wish I could
Someone said ignorance is a bless
Or do I imagine it?

I set at the edge of the bed
And observe her over my shoulder
In her sleep
Her blissful sleep
Is she really sleeping
Or just another shred of my imaginations?
In my sleepless nights
I run through our conversations
And wonder
What is true
And what is imagined?
What I should do
And when it is my time to go?

I set at the edge of the bed
And observe her over my shoulder
In her sleep, sleepless!
