Poem: Election Night

Counting, Counting

Eyes are bulging out of their

Sockets

Obsessed with the small papers

Obsessed with the small crosses

Obsessed by the numbers

Origins of ballots

Boxes shapes and colours

Grown men holding small pens and tattered papers

Notes

Take notes

Nothings changes

at the end

Money buys leaflets, screen time and help

Passion dies like the lovers of old

Election night

is a Farce

Disguised as a Tragedy

Sadly many takes it so seriously

Generations pass and no one learns.

Counting, counting.

Thank you for your vote.

Tomorrow is just another day.

Counting continues.

See you at next years’ elections!
